How to Use Lifting Straps: A Beginner's Guide
How to Use Lifting Straps
A 30-second beginner's guide to the lasso strap.

1
Make the loop
Feed the tail of the strap through the loop to create a lasso. Do the same on both straps.
2
Put your hand through
Slide your hand through so the strap sits across the base of your palm, tail coming off the little-finger side.
3
Wrap the bar
Wrap the tail around the bar — under, around, and back over the top — until it's snug.
4
Cinch and grip
Roll the bar toward you to tighten, then grip hard. The strap takes the load off your fingers so grip won't fail first.
Common mistakes
- Wrapping the wrong direction (rolling the bar should tighten, not loosen).
- Too loose — cinch it down.
- Using them for everything — keep some raw-grip work too.
What to use them for
Deadlifts, rack pulls, barbell and dumbbell rows, shrugs, and heavy back work — anywhere grip is the limiting factor.
